Chevrolet Suburban By dlpcarden on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

We decided to buy this vehicle when our other vehicle was totaled in an accident. We needed a vehicle that could tow our pop up camper. The 1989 Chevrolet Suburban has three rows of seats. The vehicle can seat up to eight people comfortably. When the third row seat is in the vehicle you have a good amount of storage room. If you were to take the third row out you would have alot more storage room. In 2006 we were towing our pop up camper on the way to Myrtle Beach when the engine blew a piston. We ended up putting a rebuilt engine in the suburban once we got back. Now we seem to have difficuly towing our 2500 lb pop up camper with the 350 engine that we put in. So now the mechanics are saying that we need to replace the transmission because the paper clutch in the 700R transmission is slipping. So now we can only tow the pop up camper short distances. These problems from what we have heard are problematic with this model. Did I mentioned that the 1989 Chevrolet Suburban only gets 10MPG city and highway - doesn't change.
