Chicago Dvd Review By Tifffany on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Chicago is a movie adaptation of the popular musical stageplay made famous on Broadway. This film tells the tale of an aspiring jazz singer, Roxy Hart, who is in prison awaiting trial for the murder of her lover from an adulterous affair. The lawyer, Billy Flinn, is played by Richard Gere who does a great job with singing, acting, and dancing. Roxy is played by Renee Zelwegger, while Catherine Zeta-Jones plays fellow ensconsed murderess Velma Kelly. Rounding out the cast is John C Reilly as Hart's husband.

I find this movie to be an amazing adaptation of a stage show. Although I never saw this live, I can definitely see what parts would be most closely followed, as some of the dance scenes look like they were actually performed on a stage. The songs are catchy and important to the plot, not just thrown in to make it a musical. I think this movie is very rewatchable and has some great extra features, such as an extra song performance.
