Clean Those Dirty Baseball Caps

Like many men (and some women), my husband loves baseball caps. He gets them free from businesses, buys them as souvenirs on vacation and of course, has one for each of his favorite teams. Finding a place for them used to be my biggest problem, but as time went on, keeping them fit to wear in public was a bigger challenge.

Years ago, someone invented this plastic holder that is for cleaning baseball caps. They claimed you could put your cap inside and then wash it like normal laundry. Needless to say, my husband and I were both quite skeptical. Since it was his collection, he was very nervous about trying it. His favorite caps had become an embarrassment, so he agreed to give it a try. However, it was first going to be tried on his least favorite hat.

I latched it into the holder and put it in the washer along with a regular load of clothes. I was anxious to see if it would come out clean, but mostly to see if it would survive being thrashed around in water. It was a huge success! My husband was thrilled that he didn't lose a cap and I was thrilled to know that they could actually be clean again. It has been so good that my husband now brings me his caps and asks me to wash them. Even his favorites. Now that's confidence.

The form is shaped like a ballcap with a rubber frame that holds the cap in place. It's so simple to use - just put the cap on and make sure the front and back latches are hooked.

The cap can be cleaned in the washing machine or the dishwasher. I've tried both ways and they're both fine, but I usually prefer the washer.
