A year ago I would have said toothpaste is toothpaste. Just get the cheapest. But then I had a really bad episode of gingivitis. I've had trouble with gingivitis off and on all my life, but this was definitely the worst yet. I couldn't get in to see the dentist right away, so I decided to experiment by changing from Crest to Colgate Total. What a difference! Within just a couple of days, my gums stopped bleeding and within a couple of weeks, the gingivitis was completely gone. I threw away the Crest and have never looked back!

Colgate Total comes in several flavors. Although it costs a little more than some other brands, I frequently find coupons for it in my Sunday newspaper. A couple of weeks ago, the large size was on sale for $1.75 and I had a coupon for $1! I recently noticed there is also a whitening version of it.

At my last cleaning, the hygienist and the dentist commented on how great my teeth looked. My cleaning took about half of the usual time. Never thought I could be this excited about toothpaste!
