Compaq Widescreen Presario F700 By Gayle Parks on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I have been wanting a laptop for years but they were always so expensive I could never bring myself to spend the dough and get one. But my husband, bless his heart, bought me one for Christmas and gave it to me early. So now not only do I get to enjoy my new laptop I also get to provide this review for you. Definately a win/win situation. Here is all the stats you computer whizes will want to know. AMD 64 Athlon X2 ,1024MD DDR2 system memory,160GB hard drive,15.4 inch widescreen,287MD graphics memory,3 USB ports, CD/DVD drive and a Partridge in a Pear Tree....Now, for the reasons I like it. It is light weight. I can lay in bed with it balanced on my belly and read my email if I want to...scary image I know. I can carry it around under my arm or in the case without feeling like I am lugging a bag of bricks. It has plenty of memory for all I want to do...like surf the net, send pictures in my email, save pictures, documents and spreadsheets. Play games, check the weather, etc. etc. It comes with Windows Vista. Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Microsoft Works. And it connects effortlessly to my LAN and provides me with wireless internet connection whereever I wish to be;bedroom, bathroom, living room...wherever. It is also sturdy although I wouldn't recommend dropping it too many times. All in all just a nice, comfortable portable computer, which afterall, is all a laptop really is.

This laptop is HORRIBLE! I've owned it for a year as of this month, and the screen has gone out 4 times, the AC adapter had broken off once and become loose twice. They tried telling me the adapter was from physical damage despite me never taking it off my laptop stand. Finally, after having to call 3 times yelling and screaming that the screen has gone out again, (after 2 trips to HP technicians and them claiming they recreated the problem and have fixed it) and telling them my computer is making me fall behind in my online classes, they are FINALLY sending me a new computer. This thing is a piece of crap. I cannot run anything on it at the same time as I run photoshop, so the ram is not nearly enough even for one demanding program at a time, the touch pad periodically will not let me use the scroll function and sometimes won't work for days. and the biggest problem with all of this?? the first time my screen went out I only had the computer for 5 months. save up another few hundred more and get a better one. i wouldn't wish this laptop on my worst enemy. if you ignore all this, please do 2 things: buy an s-video cable so when the screen goes out, you can use your tv as your monitor, and also, make sure you have flash drives and cd's to back up everything you don't want to lose when you send it in multiple times! worst laptop i've ever encountered. stay away if you haven't already.
