This is a large book with interesting facts and pictures. If you are a first time cat owner this book is for you, or someone with little knowledge of cats. In the manual you'll find information about picking a kitten, the pros and cons of breeds,long haired or short haired,diseases, and neutering or spading. You will also find answers to behavorial problems, from purring to finicky eating habits. I found the reference glossary to have a list of terms, conditions, and anatomy, that i returned to read often.

When my cat had kittens, i wanted to know all there was to know. I wanted to be prepared in case there was a problem. The detailes were explained very well and the pictures clear and precise. The large print made it even easier to read, and the black and white pictures were very detailed. Before the kittens were born, my grand children looked through the book to try to understand the birthing process. My cat was a young mother and we weren't sure how things would go. and when i saw this book at a garage sale i purchased it. Its a great book for children to understand.Five kittens were born and all went well-mommy cat is a great mother too.
