Cortaid Advanced 12 Hour Anti Itch Cream By katwalker on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I never thought I'd be talking about how one OTC steroid cream is better than another. Recently, I've had problems with my lower legs being really dry and itchy. I've had to resort to steroid creams and was using a generic 1% strength hydrocortisone cream. It was okay, but it seemed to take a while before my legs would stop itching. Also, my legs would start itching again in several hours.

Well, one day during my lunch hour my legs were itching so badly that I had to run into a pharmacy to buy some steroid cream. I noticed this new "12-hour" Cortaid brand 1% hyrdrocortisone cream. The box stated that a different kind of formulation makes it last long by keeping the hydrocortisone against the skin. Even though it was more expensive than the generic 1% hydrocortisone cream, I decided to try it, and am I glad I did! This stuff really does last much longer than regular hydrocortisone creams, and it stops the itch on my legs immediately! I don't know how it is formulated differently than other creams, but it is by far superior to the other hydrocortisone creams out there!
