Courtney Love Is America's Sweetheart By nightwing on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Sometimes an artists personal life overshadows the work that they do. That's how I feel about Courtney Love. Putting aside the drama that is her personal life, she's a really talented musician. While this is far from a fantastic album, it has some great moments.

Some of the songs are really nicely produced and have a "clean" sound, while others feature Courtney raspy voiced and sounding like a girl in trouble. I love the song Mono and the sense of urgency that comes from it. It's a great rock song. Sunset Strip is the best song here and has a bit of an epic feel to it and contemplative lyrics. But Julian, I'm a Little Older Than You is either a fun song or a complete mess. I'm still not sure which it is, but I do enjoy the song regardless. Almost Golden is another winner here. The more I think about this album, the more I realize how much I enjoy it.

Courtney is capable of some fantastic work and I can't wait to hear what she will release next.
