Cover Girl Volume Exact Mascara By katwalker on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

This mascara, along with it's sister variety, Lash Exact, is really being hyped by Cover Girl and make up artists right now. The supposed big improvement of these mascaras over what's previously been available actually has nothing to do with the mascara at all, though; rather, the brush design is what results in any improvement. Rather than a brush that is mae of bristles twisted around a wire, which is the traditional way of making a masacara brush and results in uneven bristle distribution, Lash Exact and Volume Exact's brush bristles are evenly distributed. Supposedly, this improved brush design makes the mascara go on more evenly.

Honestly, I'm not sure the brush makes much of a difference, though I do like it. The mascara formula seems to be a pretty standard volumizing one. Although ads promise "plumping" and "no clumping," my lashes seem only slightly thicker and clumps do happen, particularly over several months of the mascara being opened. In general, it's not the best or the worst masacra I've ever used. Right now, it is my mascara of choice since my favorite mascara is no longer in production, but I will continue looking for a mascara that I like better.

I have tried this one too, and don't really see that much difference. I happen to like the brush...it gives me more mascara on individual lashes. (ps~ and I hate it when they discontinue a favorite product!)
