Crock Pot By Georgia Sawhook on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
Being a stay at home mom of 7 for these many years, I never really had a need for a slow cooker or crock pot. I was there to make all my meals so I would use the oven or stove top so I could keep an eye on everything while it was cooking.
But as the family grew up and away from home and I entertained large groups from church, I found that a crock pot could really come in handy for me.
Years ago I had the very small 2 quart crock pot, which barely held enough for anyone, but I did use this one for heating dips for parties. That worked well.
But when I purchased the 6 quart Rival Slow Cooker, I found that I could make larger recipes and use this for family meals or side dishes. One of the features I especially like is the removable crock. I can place this in the sink and soak it to clean out and I find that it doesn't take long because the food just seems to come right off after a little while. So it's very easy to clean.
It has 3 heat settings: Low, Medium and High and it has a glass lid so I can keep an eye on things without removing the lid during cooking.
