Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain: L.A.'S Desert Origins By digbybare on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Pavement was an Rock band formed in Stockton in the early 1990's. Crooked Rain Crooked Rain was their second full length album, and L.A.'s Desert Origins is the two disc reissue, including much previously unreleased material.

While Pavement's first album, Slanted and Enchanted, buried the band's pop sensibilities beneath amateurish production values and shambling instrumentation, Crooked Rain Crooked Rain brings it to the foreground. From a dense fog of ganja, Pavement gave birth to the defining document of the slacker ethos. In their reinterpretation of 1960's music scene, they gave a whole new generation of suburban punklites their manifesto.

And these bedroom rockers took it to heart. Without Pavement blazing the trail, the modern indie scene would be unimaginable.
