"Cruella De Vil, Cruella De Vil, if she doesn't scare you, no evil thing will." The words to that song will never leave my head! As Disney stories go, this is a cute one about a few puppies. 99 puppies, a mother and a father to be exact. When Cruella can't buy the puppies, as she wants to make a coat out of their furs, she plots to kidnap them. The original 15 puppies are taken to an old farmhouse, where they find 84 more puppies being held captive. Soon, through a dog call chain, help is on the way. The puppies and some other dogs learn to work togethr as a team to take the puppies home. They have an adventure getting back home, as Cruella will not give them up easily. Eventually they get home and their owners, Roger and Anita, decide to keep all 101 dogs! The story is entertaining, as it pleases both boys and girls, and teaches about teamwork and determination. It also teaches that kidnapping and violence is wrong, with consequences for both. The pages are colorful, with each spotted dog looking cute. Overall, the story is good to great. Most children will love the story and pictures.
