Cushcraft R 5 Vertical Antenna By JOEY on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I have owned this antenna for about 16 years. It has been anchored on the side of my house for years and has survived assorted bad weather and the elements for all these years. I have used it as the main stay antenna for my ham radio station. It was designed for operation on the 10,12,15,17 and 20 meter ham radio bands. Its claim to fame over the years was that when the beam type antenna's came down in a nasty storm the R-5 vertical antenna stayed up. That certainly was the scenario in many cases that I witnessed over my 17 years in ham radio. A very very tough durable antenna was what the buyer experienced. The antenna also worked very well of the ham radio bands as advertised. I have spoke with folks all over the world and obtained excellent signal reports over the years. It remains an active part of my station to this day. I should add it works very well just listening to am & fm radio stations or shortwave stations. A very well built product from the Cushcraft company.
