Custom Craft Countertops By Lorianna on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
Originally, we planned on getting different kitchen countertops, but that brand turned out to be too expensive, and the manufacturer did not allow self-installation, so we could not save of that, either. After some thinking and shopping around, we opted for CustomCraft countertops sold by Menards.
These are typical laminated countertops with semi-custom edging. Base material made of chip-board; they are ordered to specific installation dimensions with sink or appliance cutouts available. My husband had made all the measurements and double-checked them, too. Nevertheless, when the countertops arrived, one of the five pieces we had ordered was of mis-sized and had to be re-ordered (at manufacturer's expense). Installation was difficult as well because of poor manufacturer's considerations. At first we thought that maybe we'd made a mistake in our measurements, but, no, it wasn't the case.
Now that the countertops are installed, they look very nice. They match our kitchen cabinets very well, and I love their stylish look and the deep green color. However, I cannot give them excellent ratings because of the problems we have experienced.

The problems you had is one of the reasons I'm seriously considering just resurfacing my counters, not something I'd recommend for anyone who isn't familiar with doing that but rather than dealing with hassles, it's the easiest route for us. Glad you like the look of them now that you've gotten them in though.
