Dan In Real Life By pinkm0onlight on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

The reviews for Dan In Real Life were not too good but I decided to give it a go anyway. How could I not with a cast like Steve Carrell, Juliette Binoche and my favorite, Dane Cook? I went into the theater not expecting much from the movie. I knew from reading the reviews that this was not Steve Carrell's typical "funny movie". What I did not expect was to find such a hidden gem in Dan In Real Life. Dan (Carrell) falls for his brother Mitch's (Cook) girlfriend after a chance meeting in a bookstore. He's visiting family over the long weekend and the awkwardness plays out as he and Marie (Binoche) try to hide their feelings for each other. No, it's not the typical role for either Carrell or Cook but that is what made it so enjoyable to watch. The characters felt incredibly real and the story just reached in and grabbed you. If you want a good romantic comedy, see this movie.
