Danco Universal Decorative Tub Spout

We developed a leaky spout in our upstairs bathroom. All we really needed to fix the problem was a new O-ring. However, I saw the Danco Decorative Tub Spout and convinced my husband a new sleek and stylish spout would be better than what we had. He regrettably agreed with me and we purchased the new spout.

First problem: The packaging says "Chrome" and that is a total misrepresentation. Being factory sealed, we could not check the spout at the store and discovered the spout is plastic after the 20-mile trip home.

Frustrated, my husband installed the plastic spout thinking for $12.97 it's not worth going back to Home Depot for another or the O-rings. Once installed the Danco unit looked pleasing enough. Second problem: One swift kick could knock it off the wall.

Third problem: When we turned on the water for a leak check the cheesy plastic apparatus that held the unit to the pipe leaked like a sieve. Horrified, angry, and drenched my husband ripped the spout off the wall.

We found a suitable O-ring in our toolbox from previous repairs to our boat. We repaired and cleaned up the old spout and re-installed it.

This Danco Universal Decorative Tub Spout model #80044 is going back to Home Depot! I don't recommend it no matter how ugly the other tub spouts are on the rack. All the parts are cheap plastic. You will be better to save your money and re-vamp what you've got.
