This is book 3 of Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld series and my favorite so far. Book 1 is Darkest Night and book 2 is Darkest Kiss, both of which I have wrote reviews on. If you are a paranormal romance fan then I highly recommend you read the Lords of the Underworld Series, especially if you like the authors J.R. Ward or Sherrilyn Kenyon.

Story: Reyes shares his body with the demon Pain. He only sates his inner demon with conflicting pain upon himself- the worse the better. He has always been drawn to the mortal woman, Danika. He will due anything to keep her- even defy the gods.

Characters: Reyes is sexy in a brutal, haunted sense. He gives off a very dark and brooding vibe. Danika is really just normal and I think that is what made me like her more. She is not all fearless, but stands up for herself.

My Opinion: This is my favorite book of the series so far! I loved the chemistry between Danika and Reyes. The ending also portrays a nice twist that I did not expect. I am looking forward to the next book in this series! If you like paranormal romance- run out and get this series now!!
