Decked By Carol Higgins Clark By Karen on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

This was the debut novel of the Regan Reilly Mysteries written by Carol Higgins Clark, daughter of Mary Higgins Clark.

In this novel, Regan Reilly is in Oxford, England for the tenth reunion of St. Polycarp. She is so excited about the reunion, and the adventure continues when she is hired to be the traveling companion to Lady Exner, a very active 80 year old who is taking a cruise to New York on the luxury liner, Queen Guinevere. But when Regan finds out that one of her classmates, who abruptly left school over ten years ago, has actually been murdered, the plot thickens. Some of the passengers on the cruise ship have secrets to hide, and even on the high seas, Regan is in the throes of mystery and must do some detective work.

As a first attempt by Carol Higgins Clark, I found the book entertaining. Lady Exner is quite a character, and Regan's parents are also traveling on the cruise, which adds some humor to the book. I've been reading all of the Regan Reilly books that I can get my hands on, and the series has been very entertaining for me. I'm glad I got the chance to read the first book and see how it all began.
