Dejardins For Home Insurance! By jayjay1113 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

My home insurance used to be with Certas Direct Insurancy Company but they were bought out last year by Desjardins General Insurance. At the time, a letter from Dejardins was sent to all Certas Direct policy holders notifying us of the change. The transition to Dejardins has been a smooth one as they did not change my coverage or fees, they just seem to resume ownership of my home insurance policy.

For roughly $60.00 a month I covered for $744,000 which includes protection from damages to my property or home due to natural disasters, water damage (ice, snow, wet snow and ground water), the contents of my home are also covered againsed natural disasters, water damage and theft or loss. If I have to be evacuated from my home for less than 14 days they will pay for all expenses during the evacuation period. I also have guaranteed replacement cost coverage for my home. This means that if my home is unfit for occupancy during repairs they will pay living expense. If I rented my basement, they would also pay for the loss of rental income.

I have the coverage I need and feel safe that we've protected our biggest investment - our home!
