The Dell Inspiron E1505 is a mid-range laptop made for both multimedia and productivity. You can configure it to your liking if purchased from the Dell website, or you can buy a pre-arranged pack.

The laptop I ordered had 2GB of ram and an Intel Core 2 T5200 1.60 GHz processor. Theoperating system that came pre-installed was the32 bit version of Windows Vista, which works alright, but that's for a different review. The laptop is able to run Vista fine most of the time, but it has its moments when transferring files or running several applications at the same time. The keyboard is decent for a laptop, but some of the keys get slightly less responsive over time. This isn't a problem for the most part, and at worst it will just cause you to go back and re-press the key a little harder. The sound that the laptop provides is average, but if you plan on listening to music through it I recommend headphones are hooking it up to a stereo system. The screen has a nice gloss applied but does get some dirt spots after a while, which I'm guessing can be cleaned off using the correct cleaner. My biggest complaint with the screen is the resolution. The max on my system is 1280x800, which is fairly low for today's standards. This isn't the laptop if you're looking for a gaming machine. It can play older games from 2003 or 2005 fine, but I wouldn't want to play games like Oblivion or Crysis on it. Overall, the laptop functions fine for most uses and is perfect for students that need to take it along with them to class.
