Dell Optiplex By vsimeone on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
Last summer, as part of my job, I purchased 30 of these computers to equip an elementary school computer lab. This model of computer is not "top of the line" but they have served our students extremely well during this school year. These computers are used each day - ALL day - by approximately 400 students in grades two, three and four. The computers have withstood the unavoidable, minor abuse that comes with the volume and age of students that work on them each day.
We have had one machine experience a failed hard drive but a Dell technician came out the next day to replace the hard drive and repair this system.
If you are in the market for a basic, hardworking, desktop computer, consider the Dell Optiplex line.

I have never tried Dell but they seemed to be loved in schools I have been in.
Our entire school system uses this particular Dell as well-they've been great for the students & teachers!
We use Dell's at work. I am not that computer literate so I just go with the flow.
I've never owned a Dell computer but I know a lot of people who really like them.
I love and trusted Dell for their fast and effiecient after sale service since I personally have experienced once. Wow...buying so many computers for your school must be a hard choice since you need to get products that is really durable for kids to handle.
A computer that can stand up to elementary school kids sounds like it would work for me!
Thanx for nice advice as i have to buy a basic computer for my kids very soon
