Dentek Fun Flossers Are No Fun By Tina Lehman on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

My kids are just beginning to go to the dentist every six months. We were told on our last visit that both kids needed to start flossing at least three times a week, because the spaces between their back teeth had closed up. They gave us a sample of flossers that worked really well. After we finished those, I purchased a package of Fun Flossers by Dentek.

These flossers are plastic and have a piece of dental floss stretched across a small U-shaped porition of the flosser. They come in bright fun colors that appeal to kids and the handle is big enough to hold comfortably. The flosser design lets you floss your kids' teeth without having to stick your whole hand in their tiny mouths. The problem with these flossers is that the floss is not slippery enough, making it difficult to get the floss between their teeth and then remove it once it's there. It is hard trying to floss a two-year old's teeth and this flosser made it no easier and it certainly wasn't a very "fun" experience for my kids.

I tried to use these flossers myself and the floss was too sticky even for my own use. I ended up tossing the entire bag, and I'm rarely that wasteful. On my next trip to the pediatric dentist I am going to get the name of the flossers they distribute and use those (I will also be certain to write a review).
