Depeche Mode Gets Darker On Black Celebration Cd By nightwing on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

With this CD, Depeche Mode really embraced a dark and atmospheric sound. Instead of having lots of upbeat radio-friendly songs, they have moody songs and what amounts to pretty much a concept album.

The disc starts off quietly with the title track as the song slowly builds. It is the perfect song to start off the disc and really sets the mood and lets the listener know what to expect from the rest of the disc. Other notable songs on the disc include Sometimes, But Not Tonight, and A Question of Time. But Not Tonight is a very simple and beautiful song. A Question of Lust is the most upbeat song here, easily lending itself to the dancefloor.

The only song on the disc that I really don't care for is New Dress. Other than that, this is a great collection. This disc is high point in Depeche Mode's career. It is a very cohesive set of songs that stand the test of time.
