Dethklok - The Dethalbum

If you're a metal fan, you're probably familiar with Metalocalypse show on Adult Swim. It's an animated series featuring the exploits of the fictional death metal band Dethklok, consisting of vocalist Nathan Explosion, guitarists Skwisgaar Skwigelf and Tori Wartooth, bassist William Murderface and drummer Pickles. It's a great show, and has featured guest appearances from a lot of metal artists including James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett from Metallica, King Diamond, George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher from Cannibal Corpse and Silenoz from Dimmu Borgir.

Every episode of the first season featured a new song from the band. Show creator Brendon Small has expanded and re-recorded those songs along with a bunch of new ones to create The Dethalbum.There's also a deluxe version available with a second disc of songs and the first Metalocalypse episode of the new season.

Small and Gene Hoglan are the real guys behind the cartoon band's music. Small does the vocals, guitars and bass. Hoglan is a great drummer who has played with tons of bands including Death, Testament and Strapping Young Lad. The music is surprisingly good. The songs are pretty polished as far as death metal goes, but are catchy with good musicianship. The lyrics, although delivered in a traditional serious death metal style, can be really funny.If you're a Metalocalypse fan you will really enjoy this CD. It's a lot of fun to listen to and you'll recognize some of the songs from the show. But even if you're not familiar with the show at all this is still a decent death metal CD. I personally loved it and enjoy it daily.Metal for all!
