Dewey And His Life Living In A Library By Stephanie Grohol on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

Dewey Readmore Books was a cat that was found in the bookdrop in the Spencer Public Library in Iowa as a kitten. It was one of those cold days when the librarian, Vicki Myron found him in the bookdrop. Someone had dumped the poor kitten in the bookdrop on a cold winter night. After making sure that the kitten was all right, there was a decision made, with board and city council approval, to take the kitten in and let it become a mascot of sorts for the library. The kitten then began his life as the Spencer Public Library cat. There was a decision made to find a name for him and it was left up to the people of the area to give him the name that he would live with the rest of his days. The name that was chosen was Dewey Readmore Books.

Dewey was an immense help for the library since he helped bring people in droves to the library and helped with making a name for the library. Dewey lived a long and comfortable life at the library until he passed away in November of 2006. He was loved by many and he helped in opening quite a few doors to those who normally would not enter the library. I really enjoyed reading this book since I am an animal lover and will always remember this cat who changed the lives of so many in the town of Spencer, Iowa.
