DeWitt Weed Barrier
By Dadof2Disneyboys onWhen getting ready to do some landscaping around our house we decided to get some landscape fabric for weed control. We didn't want to use any harmful sprays because of the kids and the dog. We came across a great deal on the DeWitt Wed Barrier Landscape Fabric. Regular price was $30.00, but we bought it at the end of the season for $20.00 and used it the following spring. This roll is 3"x100', so there is plenty of it!
This landscape fabric is pretty easy to use. You just measure the area you need to cover and then unroll the roll and cut it accordingly. Then make an "X" in the fabric wherever there is a plant, bush, or shrub and it fits right down over it. Then you can cover the fabric with mulch or landscaping stones. We used the mulch. Although it says it stops weeds for 15 years, some did sneak through over the years. I'm not sure you would be able to find something to ever stop them completely.
So as we get ready to landscape our new house this year we are going to use the DeWitt Weed Barrier Fabric again. This time we are going to try the landscaping stones on top of the fabric, and hopefully that will control the weeds even further.

Good information, and nice to know that with proper installation it really does keep the weeds down.
Sounds like a great product at reasonable price. Thanks for sharing this information.
I try to always use weed fabric in our gardens . It really does cut down on the number of weeds that pop up. I have not tried this brand though, thanks for the information.
Gardeners hint: Before ever laying down your landscape fabric, use a pre-emergent like corn gluten meal first to smother weed seeds totally. Then pull out any weeds that have grown roots and all, then lay down your landscape fabric. It should hold you a long time, especially if you use cedar mulch.
Great sale, always good to buy things at the end of the season and store up for next year. I think this product is awesome!
That's a great idea & I also love the idea of putting landscape stones on top of this!
We had landscaping fabric in our gardens at our townhouse. It worked well, overall, at keeping the weeds out. But was kind of a pain to have to cut holes in each time I planted a flower or plant.
A few have grown through ours too but nothing like the way it was before we laid fabric down!
Great idea here to get rid of all those weeds without the use of weedicides. thanks for sharing that knowledge.
This catch my attention ...."it stops weeds for 15 years" if it really works it will be super great. Great idea there to use stones on top of the fabric to slow the weeds down. thanks for sharing such marvellous product with us.
