Dexter Season 1 DVD Box Set

This is not a show for everybody. It is gory and violent but it is a very well written and smart television show which is a popular series on Showtime. It is probably the most suspensful tv series that I have ever watched.
It stars Michael C. Hall (Six Feet Under) who plays Dexter, a blood splatter expert that works for the Miami Police Department and helps solve crimes. It similiar to any of the CSI shows but is taken to another level given that is seen on Showtime rather than basic television.
The first season has Dexter trying to find "The Ice Truck" serial killer. No, he is not looking for him because he wants him to be put behind bars. He is searching for this serial killer because he admires his work. That is because Dexter is a serial killer himself. Dexter is a serial killer who only kills other criminals. It is kind of a vigilante justice. His father taught him from an early age to do this in order to feed his addiction in a so-called good way. Each episode is like a puzzle piece that fits to the previous episode. It really keeps you guessing and has several suprise twists. I would sit down and intend on watching only one episode and would be so into it and have to find out what happens next that it would like 3 episodes before I could stop watching.
The dvd set is 4 disc, 12 episodes and 650 minutes. "Dexter" is NOT RATED. It also contains a featurette about real blood splatter analysis which is very interesting.
I got interested in Dexter on CBS this past TV season. I love the show so much that I was considering getting the first season uncut on DVD...you just convinced me to buy it!
I'm with you. I found it hard to walk away once I had started. I also appreciate the relationships in this story. Definitely not for everyone, though. If you wince during CSI, then steer clear of this one!

I am totally hooked on this show and have the box set myself! Totally curious how this show is going to fit in on regular cable though, they are really going to have to tone it down a lot and IMHO that might just kill the show.
i really don't get interested when hearing what many tv shows are about these days but this really got my attention and interest when i heard the description about the show. your review interested me more to at least give it a try and see if the show is worth watching.
