For my birthday, I wanted a new camera with some ZOOM! I was annoyed at not being able to do this with my old camera.

I did a lot of online research and played around with various cameras in the store. I selected Canon as it has a great reputation and I am familiar with their products, having owned several. The S5 IS replaced the S3 IS last year. It has 8 mega pixels, and 12x optical zoom. I am really enjoying the zoom and all the details I can get with this camera. This camera also sports an optical image stabilizer which detects and corrects movement and blur! Just what I need.

The S5 IS also has a 2.5 movable angle LCD screen, a hot shoe, DIGIC lll Image processor, and an easy movie button. I like the color accent option too, and many of the other modes. I have a lot to learn and plan to do so.

I enjoy the sturdy feel and weight of the camera and have been very pleased with the results so far. We just took a beach trip and I am amazed at the color, clarity, and zoom that this camera offers. I look forward to taking many more pictures with it.
