Digital Tv Convertor As Advertised By BillF on - Updated Sep 18, 2011
I have one TV not connected to cable and read the review for the DTX9900 last month in this source.I also read every review I could find on the internet and found them confusing and inconsistent. I think some of the varaition is caused by the recpetion variation of consumers and the subjective expectation for digital TV convertors. I found this one easy to install except getting the universal remote to work the TV functions. I think the pictchure quality is awesome and I went from 8 channels with only 5 acceptable quality to 20 stations all more than acceptable quality. About half the additional stations are local wheater channels and foriegn langauage channels but it provides some additional features and no increase in cable bill. One feature I found helpful was signal strength which helped me optimize my rabbit ears antena. Overall I urge people considering this not to wait until febuary but enjoy the better pitchure and more stations now.
Digital Stream DTX9950 Purchased at: Radio shack Price: 19.99 after federal coupon

I've bought 5 of these and in less than a year, TWO of them have died. In both cases the power LED is dimly lit, but the unit simply won't power up. When I called for a replacement under warranty, they made me go thru a half-hour process to convince them it really was dead. At which point they wanted to know if I had another TV on which to try [the whole process again]! It was unbelievable! I strongly recommend you do not buy any digital stream product.
