Dippity Do An Oldie But A Goodie By JPnMO on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Many years ago when I was a teenage girl, my favorite styling product was Dippity-do. It helped my long, thick hair keep its fullness and curl after very long nights sleeping on huge, hard, plastic curlers. Boy, those were the days!

Over the years, hair products evolved and new products came on the market. Somehow, my Dippity-do was replaced by a new gel, mousse or something more modern. But in the back of my mind, I always remembered my Dippity-do. It got me through junior high and high school and more than one boy commented on how nice my hair smelled, which I always attributed to the Dippity-do. It was my little secret.

Last year while browing through an old dime store in Branson, MO, I came across Dippity-do. The smile on my face had to be obvious as my throughts went back through the years to simpler days of my youth. I hadn't seen this product in years and was certain it was no longer on the market. I was thrilled and had to buy it.

In "the old days" of my youth, Dippity-do was pink and had a really fresh smell. They've either changed the color and scent or added a new one. I'm not thrilled with the fragrance of this green gel. I'd love to know if they still make the old formula. But, the new product feels and works the same. I like to use it when I let my naturally curly hair air dry. It defines the curls better than any of the other products I've used. And seeing the name on the jar brings back memories I had long forgotten.

Update Posted on :

I've had a few people ask where they can buy this. I have not been back to see if they still carry it at the store where I purchased mine, but I found it online. Here is just one of the places that sell it:

I was a majorette in high school and this was the only stuff that held our hair in place during half time shows and competitions. Great stuff!
