About a year and a half ago I moved out on my own and one of the number one things I knew I needed to buy was a vacuum. I didn't need one of those fancy ones that cost $500, just one that would work on both tile floor and also carpet. I ended up picking out the Dirt Devil Swivel Glide Vision Vacuum. This vacuum has suited my purposes perfectly. It has 5 different height settings, ranging from bare floor to extra ply carpet. I usually use the bare floor setting and then vacuum the carpet on the 3rd setting.
The Dirt Devil Swivel Glide picks up just about everything off of the floor with just one swipe; there is no need to double vacuum a location to pick up everything. It gets it on the first time just about every single time. The electrical cord is thirty feet so you can essentially vacuum one or two rooms without ever having to change electrical outlets.
The bag inside of the vacuum is very easy to change and lasts through quite a few vacuums. I think I have probably changed it maybe three times since I have gotten it. I would highly recommend the Dirt Devil Swivel Glide Vision Vacuum. It gets rid of all my messes, including stubborn pet hair in a breeze! Pet hair is a real pain to vacuum and we found you need to clean the brushes underneath often to keep the bristles working in top shape. Just a recommendation and something you might want to check if you haven't done it yet.
