Discovery Amazing Bank Counter
By Mom2One onMy son received this as a birthday gift a few years back and he still uses it to this day.
Basically it is a money bank to will count your coins for you as you drop them in. It will recognize if the coin in a penny, nickel, dime or quarter. As you drop in your coins it will add up the coins and you will be able to see how much is in the bank on the LCD display. This only recognizes US coins, so this will not work with coins from Canada or other countries.
It is a lightweight plastic, but very durable. It does get heavy once it starts to really fill up but it won't break or crack.
Now when my son received this I wasn't sure just how accurate it would be. So we just added all sorts of coins, months later it was full enough so we took it to our local bank. The LCD display said my son had $63.27 in there. The banker was also curious as to how accurate it would be. We were both surprise when the bank's sorter also came up with the same total of $63.27!
There have been times since then that it has been a few cents off, but sometimes if you put the coins in too quickly it won't register it. Not a big deal though to deal with.
I think this makes a great gift, even for adults. My son received this as a gift so I really don't know how much the person paid for it but I have seen it in the stores for around $15.00.

Your son made quite the haul with all of that change!
I have one of these also. Yes, once in awhile, if I put the coins in too fast, it counts wrong, but I think it's neat to have a general idea of how much is in there! Your son saved a lot!
A good way to motivate children towards saving and a great gift I would like to give to my nephew

I want to get one of these someday. I like that it counts money accurately.
This looks like fun. I had a bank as a child that saved and counted dimes. I saved enough for my own summer camp each year with that bank because I could see how it was adding up.
My husband & I have one of these...we use it to save up for our vacation fund. I love how it digitally tells you how much you have. Great for kids or adults.
Gave one of these to my Husband and he keeps his change in it.
