Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort By Mom2 One By Mom2One on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

The first time we stayed at Disney World we decided on staying at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort. This resort is right on Disney property, which is a must for us.

Caribbean Beach is part of Disney's moderate resorts. We ended up getting a special rate code and only paid $89.00 a night compared to the normal $120 or so a night.

Overall I did not care for the Caribbean Beach Resort and highly doubt if we would stay there again. One thing I did not like is it is a very large resort. The buildings are grouped into 6 villages; we were in Barbados, which was one of the furthest from the food court area.

Each village has their own pool and beach with hammock, playground area, and bus stop and laundry area.

Old Port Royale is where the food court is. Like I said earlier we were in the Barbados building which is quite a long walk. The last thing anyone wants to do is take a 15 minute walk just to grab something to drink after spending all day in the hot Florida sun. We usually just got something out of the vending machine because of this reason.

I later learned you can request buildings closer to the food court and shop area, but sometimes those are just request not a guarantee.

Another thing I did not like about this resort is there are many bus stops within the resort. So when you are leaving to go visit a theme park in the morning it seems like it takes a long time before you are even out of the resort, same with coming back at the end of the day.

Their buses also seemed very crowded more than any other Disney resort I have stayed in before.

Now don't get me wrong the Resort itself is very beautiful and the staff is very friendly. The staff went out of their way to help us when my son spiked a 104 temperature and was lethargic. They quickly got us a van to take us to the emergency clinic in town, all for free. The next day we had the front desk call and ask how my son was feeling (better, Thank Goodness). So I give the staff very high praise, but that is the kind of service you expect from Disney.

Although a beautiful resort, I just didn't like the spread out, large feel to it.

It may be perfect for some people, but it just wasn't for us.

We have also stayed at CBR. We had requested Martinique so we weren't as far away as you but I was disappointed in the food court for a moderate resort. We now either stay at Pop Century or Coronado Springs depending on the season, rates and our finances! I'm sorry you were disappointed with CBR but thank you for sharing your experience!
