Disney's Coronado Springs Resort By Dizzyduck By dizzyduck on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
My husband and I are seasoned Disney fanatics. We have been going there for years and have stayed at several on-site resorts. On our last trip, we decided to give Coronado Springs a try. This decision was made based on the food available at the resort. We are real foodies, and a big part of our vacations are trying new foods and restaurants. I think that is one of the reasons we like Disney World so much. We can eat our way around the world at the World Showcase in Epcot.
Coronado Springs is the newest of Disney's moderate resorts, (149-240, depending on season and room) opening in August of 1997. It has an American Southwest theme, and is arranged around a 15 acre lake, named Lago Dorado. The first thing you notice about this resort is the size! It is huge. There are 1967 guest rooms, a 95,000 square foot convention center, a ballroom, and a full service business center. The guest rooms are spread out around the lake in three different villages, named Casitas, Ranchos and Cabanas. As with all Disney resorts the theme is carried out throughout the resort and guest rooms. Our room was located in the Ranchos, which is an almost half mile walk from El Centro, the main building. Because of the size, cast members drive around in marked golf carts transporting guests around the resort. It really helps a lot at the end of a long day of park hopping. Guest room amenities include hair dryers, coffee makers and a small dorm size refrigerator.
As with all Disney Resorts, is a themed pool, complete with a Mayan pyramid, laundry facilities, health club, and arcades to take the kids money. The dining choices include a the Pepper Market food court, which has enough choices to satisfy the entire family, La Tienda, the convenience shop, with snacks and drinks, a pool bar, and the Maya Grill, a full service restaurant, where I had the best filet mignon I have ever had in my life. It was so good we ate there twice during our stay, and with all the food choices available at Disney World that is saying something.
The cast members at the Coronado Springs were some of the best we have ever had the pleasure of coming in contact with. From the front desk, bell services, housekeeping, to the servers in the Maya Grill, professional, knowledgeable, efficient and entertaining all at the same time.
All in all, we give it a five stars and will stay there again.
Walt Disney World Coronado Springs Resort

We almost stayed here during our last trip. We might just have to stay at CSR at our next trip!
We stayed here once to see what it was like but thought it was more geared toward convention goers versus family. Loved the Maya Grill but did not care for the food court. We always have a rental car if the drive to the main building if we don't feel like hiking for a meal or snack. I never realized they had a golf cart service for this. Thanks for sharing and any stay at a Disney resort is so worth it.
We have stayed in the Cabana's and Casita's sections and enjoyed it. We love all the Disney moderates though, Port Orleans Riverside is our favorite! We love pretty much anything at Disney!
I never stayed at Coronado Springs, yet. One day I hope to try out most if not all the Disney resorts. Although I will admit Coronado Springs doesn't appeal to me too much but your description sounds very nice
This sounds like a wonderful resort to stay at. Thanks for sharing.
