Reviewing: Disney Pop Century

A trip to the Walt Disney World Resort is expensive.Luckily, they have begun to appeal more to a family on a budget (or a broke college kid) with the introduction of value resorts, especially the newest addition, Disney's Pop Century.Pop Century is billed as a walk back through the highlights of the last century, but in reality it currently only goes to the 1950s.There is a second phase that is built, but not completed.Disney halted this construction after September 11th 2001.This will be considered the "Golden Years" and will showcase the decades 1900-1940.In the current section, there is a group of buildings for each decade from 1950-1990s.They are fun themes for each decade, including Bowling Balls for the 50's, Rubik's cubes for the 80s and Cell Phones for the 90s.There is a large food court and shopping area in the main building where you also check in, and three pools. While the dcor of this resort is fun, it is not exactly tasteful. The rooms are tight, on my last stay there I was unable to open the door and walk directly into the room, you had to open the door, take a step inside, shuffle around a little bit, and finally close the door due to the close proximity of the bed. There is a TV and dresser, table with chairs, closet, vanity and separate tub and toilet area.It is very basic in terms of amenities, but the price is the cheapest you can find on Disney property.I have stayed at the Pop Century a few times during my visits down to Disney, and while I do prefer the luxuries of the Deluxe choices, when that isn't in the budget I find that Pop Century works just fine.
