The 1388-2 is the perfect pencil. Unlike the no-name office depot penicls, the ticonderoga actually has a useful eraser, not that chunky plastic stuff. Not only that, but the thing is smooth and comfortable to hold (as comfortable as a pencil can be anyway). It sharpens away smoothly, without jagged flakes, and creates decently thick, dark lines. The pencil itself is sturdy, and will only break under extreme pressure.
The wood used is smooth grained which gives the sharpened end a delicate but firm feel while still allowing for long sessions of use without rashes. The eraser is a type snythetic composite rubber engineered specifically for erasing things to the point of no return. The form factor on this baby is flawless. Ticonderoga is the top dog in pencil making.
Compared to all those other generic pencil brands, ticonderoga excels. Not only that, but when people see you rocking a 1388-2, they know you mean buisness. You dont have time for those crappy happy birthday peel off decal pencils, you get straight to buisness with a good old fashioned ticonderoga.
