Do Not Do a Dodge!

Reviewing: Dodge 2002 Caravan
Purchased at: Shokopee Dodge

I do not have a lot of good things to say about the Dodge Caravan. I will say I will never own another one as long as I live.

We brought this 2002 Dodge Caravan gently used back in 2005.
It only had 33,000 miles on it and we were able to get it for $9000.
All seemed fine when we test drove it but we still took out the extended warranty for it.

Thank Goodness we did!

We have had to repair or replace the following:

Antifreeze reservoir because there was a crack in it causing to leak antifreeze

Rack and Pinion

Power window on the driver's side was stuck and would not go down. Had to replace a part for that

Instrument panel - the speedometer totally stopped working while driving down the highway!

Power lock on the driver's side --- one day I could not unlock the driver's side door from the inside or out

Sway bar links and bushings

And the latest and why my Dodge Caravan is at the shop right now, the brake drums went bad and need to be totally replaced!

My Caravan only has 72,000 miles on it right now. You would not think it should be having this many problems already but it is.
Most of the problems the warranty has covered, but unfortunately the Warranty expires May 28th, 2008!
I am very worried to be driving around without a warranty on this van.
My husband and I have been seriously talking about getting a different van because we do not trust this van anymore.

One thing is for sure we will NOT be looking at a Dodge minivan no matter how good the deal is!
We are finished with Dodge!

The only reason I scored it a 2 is because it has not left me stranded YET!

Thank goodness you got the extended warranty on this mini van. I would hate to think you were left stranded somewhere. Do you have AAA? Wow...I hope you get to trade this one in for something more reliable.

yes, we do have AAA. We even had to use it once when we got a flat tire. But I can't really fault the van for that one :)

Wow, so sorry to hear all the trouble with the caravan, I have to say it's just cuz it's a minivan, lol. Just kidding, but I'm like Al Bundy and I am a Dodge Girl! I love my Daytona and all the other cars I have had that lasted over 6 months were either Dodges or some form of Chrysler. Wish you would have had better luck with yours!

We had Plymouth Voyager Vans with real good luck. but I've always heard the Dodge Caravan had problems. Sorry you had to put up with all the troubles!

Oh wow! My brother and his family have had a Dodge Caravan since around 1996 and they have had very little trouble with it. Sounds like you got a total lemon! Hope your next van is more reliable!

Yep, I think I got a lemon too because I heard good things about them. But you know the saying once bitten twice shy. I can't get another Dodge

That's unfortunate that you've had so many issues with this vehicle. We've always had a Dodge vehicle of some sort and loved every one of them - so they aren't all bad!

Wow it sounds like you really got a lemon. I have never personally drove a dodge before, but now I really dont want to. Sorry that you had a terrible experience.
