Dom Scripting By Jeremy Keith By Fostanza on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I've already learned HTML/CSS, and the next core technology, in my opinion, is JavaScript. DOM Scripting does an excellent job of showing you how to use JavaScript with the Document Object Model. The book was clearly made for web designers, so if you don't know programming concepts, the book explains them to you in English, not 3N9l15H.

The book does not overwhelm you with code, instead, it shows you the differences between good and bad JavaScript and how to make sure you stay with the good stuff. For example, one chapter is about making an image gallery. Two chapters later, there is a chapter about the same image gallery, but now the author shows the mistakes in standards that were made, and how to fix them.

This book is not a JavaScript reference manual, but that is a good thing. If that's what you're looking for, don't buy this book. However, if you want to easily and quickly learn how to code in JavaScript the right way, this book is for you.
