Don't Buy Mohawk! By Chefmom on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Don't buy Mohawk carpet. Buy any kind of carpet but Mohawk. We recarpeted our home, all 5000 square feet of it, a few years ago with what appeared to be a beautiful carpet. And it did look beautiful for a while. But within a few months, it started wrinkling. I called Carpet World, the store where we purchased it. They restretched it. A few months later, same thing. I called Carpet World again. They ignored me, but I finally got them to contact Mohawk and send a representative out to our home. He took a sample, ran some tests and a few months later sent us a letter saying it was the installation. Maybe it was. I don't know for sure, but I do know that when I found Carpet World had gone out of business, I contacted Mohawk and they were incredibly rude. Whether it was the carpet itself or the installation, we were their customer, and ultimately they should have done something about the problem.

We finally had the carpet restretched again at our cost. Now it is starting to wrinkle again and it also is looking terrible on our stairs where it is matted down. I won't waste my time contacting Mohawk, as they appear to care nothing about customer service.

Ouch! How many times can a carpet stretch? That's crazy. Thanks for the warning.

This is really too bad. Mohawk used to be a quality name in carpet.
