Dont Get Hosed On A New Garden Hose By JuneBugCo on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I needed to get a longer garden hose to use with my electric pressure washer so that I could reach all the way around my house. I have a water connection in the front of the house and one in the back, however my old garden hose was too short too reach all areas around the sides. I headed down to the local Lowe's hardware store to see what they had in stock. There were three basic categories of garden hoses to choose from: heavy duty, medium duty and light duty and there were two basic lengths to choose from: 50 foot and 100 foot. I could have gotten another 50 foot garden hose and attached it to the one that I already owned but if my old hose were to leak I would be right back where I started from so I decided to go with a 100 foot hose. I narrowed my selection down to the heavy duty and the medium duty. The 100 foot hose came with a lifetime warranty but was about ten dollars more than the medium duty which came with a five year warranty and was priced at $27.98.
While the medium duty garden hose costs less it does have solid brass couplings, nylon reinforcing, all weather flexibility, an abrasion resistant cover and a protective collar. The warranty covers manufacturer's defects in workmanship and materials. The garden hose is manufactured by Swan and is made in the USA.
