Down Home Cooking By TAlderson on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

In this recipe book, author Fred Thompson (not the candidate!) searches for the best of that quintessential american cuisine: the barbeque. Far from being a gourmet affair, his book offers delicious recipes that anyone with a grill can make, an idea that has somehow been excluded from many barbeque cookbooks. All the recipes he makes utilize ingredients that anyone can find, and the thorough instructions help newer initiates make the best of their grills. The recipes are culled from across the country, family secrets and longtime traditions. And since the book covers everything from beef to chicken to vegetables (even gator tail steaks!), there will be something in it for every kind of eater and griller. I have tried many recipes from this book, and all have turned out delicious. Of course, a good recipe book does not make a good cook. But it sure does help.
