Dracula - Hardcover review
By halcamdad onBram Stoker's Dracula is a classic that goes largely unread in school. I was never required to read it in any of my English or Literature courses. This is unfortunate because it's a fantastic book. This story is the cornerstone of contemporary vampire lore. Much different than I expected, the book is a collection of journal entries by the characters involved. Mina Harker whose engaged to Johnathan Harker falls in love with the Count. The story is really a story love between a beautiful young lady and a cursed immortal. Believe it or not, you may sympathize with the Count. Realizing that he has an extremely painful past and is now cursed to live forever - perpetually haunted by horrific events from his mortal life. He's not just the blood sucking monster that we conceive in modern times (perceptions largely based on Hollywood renditions). He's a scarred individual - scary yes secondary to his immense power - who deserves empathy. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.
