Dragon Quest: Viii By WreathofBarbs on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King is a return to form for Japanese RPGs. The combat system and story are extremely traditional, being throwbacks to the simpler days of RPGs. First off, the game is absolutely gorgeous. Cell-shaded and drawn by the artists behind the Dragonball series of Japanese Anime, the game is vibrant and colorful and the influence of the Dragonball art style is easily noticeable. The soundtrack, though occasionally repetitive, is beautiful. And the content...well, this is a game you could sink a hundred or more hours into and still have things left to accomplish. Plenty of sidequests and places to explore and see make this game a worthy time-killer for any fan of RPGs. And those who are already familiar with the Dragon Quest series of games will definitely want to pick this one up.
