There are several features on the Dyson DC-14 that makes it a wonderful vacuum cleaner. First of all, the vacuum does an amazing job cleaning the floors. The suction power is top-notched. The Dyson claims that its vacuum will dot lose suction. So far, I have to say that it is true. My vacuum has never been clogged. The Dyson DC-14 is extremely easy to empty. You simply detach the container by a push of a button. Then, holding the container over a trash can or bag, you pull a lever to release the bottom and the dump the contents. Very simple.
Another great feature is the extendable wand. I can clean almost all the way up my stairs with the vacuum sitting on the floor below. Again, the wand releases easily and expands to clean hard to reach areas.
The Dyson works well on bare floors, as well as carpet. There is a knob to switch from bare floors or carpet that is easy enough to reach.
Initially, the vacuum seems heavy. You should not carry the vacuum by the wand. If you carry the Dyson by the handle, which is lower on the vacuum, it becomes much easier to handle.
I have owned many vacuums and finally decided to pay the extra money for a better vacuum. I am very glad that I did. This vacuum is as good as advertised. I highly recommend it.

I soooooo want a Dyson. But $400.00, maybe I could do it if I had all new carpet to protect.
We actually are needing a new vacuum, last time my hubby wanted a Dyson and I said no because of the price, now I wish that is what we went with..but do not tell him I said that ;)
I love a good vaccum, but often wondered if the Dyson was overhyped. It sounds like this is a great hardworking vacuum that I really need to try out!

I have always been curious to know if the high price is really worth it for this vacuum.
I am fascinated by the Dyson technology, and I'm very happy every time I see someone who says it really works. The local TV show did a "try it" and they weren't so impressed, but several people here on SR have said that it works really well. Next time we need a vacuum, I'm definitely going to look into one.

I would love to have one of these. My vac is slowly dying now. I'm not sure that I would spend this much on a vac...maybe someone could give it to me as a gift.
