E Mu Xmidi 1x1 Usb Review By Kandayo on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

I ordered this cable online about 2 month ago to connect my computer to my 66-key keyboard and use Steinberg Cubase to compose and record music. The Xmidi 1x1 works with any pplication tht requires/utilizes MIDI. I am not sure if it is compatible with Windows VISTA but XP works. On one end of the cable are two MIDI plugs (IN and OUT) which corresponds to the MIDI IN and OUT ports on the computer. Sometimes you will have to plug in the IN to the OUT and the OUT to the IN. The other side of the cable is a USB 2.0 which can be plugged in to your computer. It is an almost perfect product. The only cons is the delayed reaction. I would press a key and the computer would receive it about a second later. The Xmidi 1x1 cable measures 3 feet on the USB side and 7 feet on the MIDI side which is about 10 feet total. It should be plenty long enough in most cases. The cost would ranges anywhere from $30 - 60 USD. Some keyboards, unlike mine, have USB ports built into them so users would be able to buy USB-USB cords which are much cheaper than the MIDI-USB cords. So unless you have one of these keyboards, I highly recommend using the Xmidi 1x1.
