E Scan : Perfect For Libraries By Nisha Lakhiani on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

E-scan , a book scanner from France based i2S SA, is a revolutionary product that is a sure boon to libraries. It has an integrated scanning method that can scan a book without

causing any damage to the spine. Any kind of bound documents or books can be scanned including papers that are delicate or fragile.

Recently, a friend of mine who was interested in this technology requested the company to see a demonstration. Upon accompanying her I discovered that e-Scan requires you to place the book face-up and the scanner using touch screen technology captures the image of the relevant pages. The scanned book can be saved on a pen-drive, printed out or shared in a computer network. Valuable books can be stored permanently in this manner and can be re-printed.The machine is able to scan in colour, grayscale or black and white. The thickness of the paper can vary up to 10cm thick and up to A3++ format. Moreover, it boasts of other features such as watermark, and Radio-frequency identification technology. A must have for any library.

It really sounds good and if someone have bulk scanning jobs than they can go for it. The main problem we have with any scanner is that it affects the quality of the books. But this one, as you said, will not affect the quality of the books or documents.
