Eco Sense Tankless Water Heater By Chelsit on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

The Eco Sense by Rheem Natural gas tankless water heater from Home Depot when my old water started acting up in the middle of summer a few months ago, and my plumber recommended this water heater because he had used it many times in the past with other clients. This water heater provides continuous hot water for your family for up to 20 years or more. The 199,900 BTU burner provides hot water at 7.4 GPM allowing two to three major applications such as two showers and one sink to be used at the same time. This water heater saves up to 30% on fuel cost compared to a standard gas water heater or up to 70% compared to a standard electric water heater. Since my plumber installed this hot water heater I have had no problems so far and we never run out of hot water.,

Sounds really great. Heating water only when it's needed is really eco-friendly

Nice - I built my home with a Bosch version, and with only one exception I have been very pleased. When you fiddle with the mix of cold and hot water, the heater re-sets, starting again. This means that the water will drop to cold and return to hot. Seems a waste of water. Does yours do this?

I have had 2 Bosch units in the past 3 years. Both failed. Both required big dollars for replacement because the local plumbers and gas technicians to not work on them. I do not recommend the Bosch units at all

Worst investment ever! The heater never worked and I had to turn the hot water faucet on and off until it decided to heat the water. A red light on the control panel will turn on when its heating water so my wife had to stand in front of the unit to see if the red light was on and would yell upstairs when it started heating water. I went through the troubleshooting guide and contacted Rheem but had no help. I have since switched back to a standard tank heater and have had no problems. It is unbelievable that they are allowed to sell these things when they obviously do not work. One more thing, once the heater did work it would heat continuously, but that just meant that we had to leave the hot water running constantly if we planned on using it. What a waste of water.

I dream of getting a tankless water heater - especially when I am taking a cold bath because of our water heater.

I have wondered about these. We are always having hot water heater problems (mostly the elements burning out). I can't tell you how many times I have to take a cold shower in a years time. Thanks for the review.
