Eddie Bauer Bassinette
By Jessica Yamaguchi on - Updated Oct 15, 2011We found this bassinette after about 2 months of looking at all the stores in our area. We didnt know if we were having a boy or girl so we wanted a neutral style/color bedding, but we were also on a pretty tight budget so spending over 200 dollars on a bassinette baby was only going to be able to sleep in up to 15-20lbs was not an option. Ialso Do NOT like the new playpen, changing table, bassinette combos they sell and I didnt like the plastic ones that seem to be everywhere now, I wanted a wooden oneI knowpicky me!
WE FINALLY found this Eddie Bauer Bassinette at Toys-R-Us. It was on sale for $139.99I believe it was normally priced at $199.99. These kinds of baby furniture items change so fast now days I am not sure whats available where...but I did see this same one in another Toys-R-Us store recently. Unfortunately I do not have the box anymore and so i don't have a model # for you!
It has a light colored wooden frame, included bedding-dust ruffle canopy, mattress and sheet for it. The mattress is about an inch and a half thick.
It is kind of a cradle styleyou can rock the cradle (manually) or lock it into place. There is a music box included that attaches to the top of one side of the cradle (battery operated). There is also a storage shelf underneath so that you can store bedding. The bedding theme is teddy bears, with mini beige/tan checkers. It also has plastic wheels on the legs which makes moving it around easy.
It all came in a box; we had to assemble the thing. My husband did this; it was very easy to put it all together. I believe it took him all of half an hour. The wooden frame is arched and barredstands a little over 31/2 feet tall at its tallest point. The cradle/bed section is about 3 feet long and 16 inches wide and about 10 inches deep.
There are 2 things that I didnt like about it. The first being that the music box plays 8 different nursery rhymes BUT the music is kind of high pitched and twangy, NOT soothing at all, so we NEVER used it! The other thing is that the mattress seemed REALLY thin and hard to meI know, this is what they say we want for newbornsIts safer, but man and inch and half?It didnt seem like it would be very comfortable.
After all the searching and excitement wouldnt you know it! Baby only slept in the darn thing twice, and only for about 15 minutes each time! I gave up trying about 2 weeks after we brought him home! Every time I laid him down in it, he would wake upor cry...or both. Im not sure if its because it was uncomfortable or if he was just spoiled rotten from the get go! He would stay asleep if I laid him on my bed, or the couch.
So, those were my issues with this bassinette. But,I would recommend it. I think that for the price it was very well made, it is sturdy and was pretty much what I wanted (except for the music)baby just had other ideas.
Update On Jun 03, 2008: Just so everyone knows...my son is now 7 months old...what has become of the Bassinette? WEll..it is a stuffed animal and baby blanket storage area now! LOL! We are saving it for the next baby !

Hope the new baby is healthy and you are getting your rest. Baby needs comfort too!
Wow that looks like a nice Bassinette. Eddie makes some great products!
I love this bassinette. The Eddie Bauer line of baby products is really great. Sad that your baby didn't like it.
Very nice bassinet my little man was a little picky at were he slept too when he was born, now at 10 months old he still falls asleep on the couch and is very comfortable.
Except for the music , i think it is a near perfect bassinet , nice and neat looking and beautiful too.
Very cute and stylish bassinet. Thanks for sharing!
It's so pretty. thanks for the pictures.
What a nice bassinet! It seems the little babes always find a strange spot they are most comfy to sleep in and it is never where we want them to be, lol.
That is a very pretty basinette - too bad your son didn't use it more! Maybe next time :)
This looks like a very nice basinette, and well worth your long search. But the kids do have minds of their own, right from the get-go!
