Edward Scissorhands By Tifffany on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Edward Scissorhands combines the stellar combination of Johnny Depp (playing the title character), Tim Burton (director) and Danny Elfman (composer) in another winner. In this movie, Depp plays an outcast who lives on a house up on a hill, secluded from the rest of the town. One day the local Avon lady comes calling, and finds Edward and brings him into her life. Edward doesn't have real hands like a normal person, but has large scissors instead. These come in handy sometimes (cutting hair and trimming hedges) but are a real problem when he wants to have human contact.

Winona Ryder also stars in this movie as Edward's love interest. The relationship between them translates well to screen, even if Ryder does look a bit odd as a blonde. The movie explores the life of someone different than the norm, and can be a statement on everyday life. It's a very cute, endearing film that I can watch again and again.
