Elephant By Tifffany on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

elephant was directed by Gus Van Sant and came out in 2003. It tells the story of a not-so-ordinary day in a high school that ends with a Columbine style massacre. I found this movie to be both intriguing and unsettling. Since I have (luckily) never lived through anything like this, it was intriguing and informative to see how it may have played out. For the very same reasons, it was also disturbing.

In this film, the director focuses on several different teens and tracks the hours as they pass for each group. For instance, you can see students studying innocently in the library while the gunmen plan their attacks.

I thought this movie was very well done and I really liked the tactic of following different characters. I found it to be very effective and make for a more complete movie. I think this is a very important and relevant movie for today's teens and adults.
